When I was a strapping young man, my Uncle Vincent Montague and I loved the song by the Spinners called, "I don't wanna lose you." The song starts with a two-part inquiry, "Who do you think you are? Who do you want to be? You're the only one who really knows. Maybe you'll be surprised, after your search is through, when you find you've just been chasing you."

That begs the questions, "Who do You think You are? Who do You want to be? The Book of Proverbs reminds us, that as we think in our hearts that's the person we are.

But here's the crazy thing, what we think in our hearts is not just a fleeting idea. What we think in our hearts is essentially what we believe. You don't need to look far to see what people believe about themselves. All you need to do is listen to what they say and see how they act.

What are you saying about you? I know you are honest, so chances are you will find that who you think you are is in direct proportion to what you have been saying about you, for all these many years. I can only guess that there is a disparity between who you think you are and who you want to be.

Many of us have be repeating what others have said about us, yes even what the devil says about us. We have believed the lie. The devil is the father of lies, you know?

Many years ago I began to hear a good saying. At first it was attributed to Viktor Frankel, then too later to one of the Greek philosophers, then to a plethora of people. The saying goes, "Our thoughts become words; words become actions; actions become habits; habits become destiny." Do you want to change your destiny, Change you thoughts, your words, and your actions. As you thinketh in your heart so are you. As you continue to think, so you will be.

I Confess, is an affirmation that when diligently and prayerfully confessed out loud every day will change your mind. It will change your thinking. It will change your words. It will change your actions. It will change you habits. It will change your destiny.

I challenge you to try this for 30-days and see the change in your Christian journey.

But if you are not a Christian and you desire to be friends with the God of all creation, no longer his enemy, say this prayer or one like it.

Father God, thank you for loving me this much, that you sent Jesus to rescue me. Through atoning sacrifice, his death burial and resurrection, and His ascension, he has eradicated my sin, and brought me to perfect peace with you. I forsake my sin and rebellion, and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Now, I am free, For whom the Son of God sets free, is free indeed. Help me to change my confession, and agree with the Word of the Lord, Amen
